Too Busy Not To Write

Some of you have asked me, “When do you find the time to write?”  After all, I always complain about not having time to waste.  How do I fit writing in?  My mother is worried that I’m up at 3:00 a.m. posting new blogs (I explained to her that I actually write them in advance, and they post automatically).

Well, to answer your question, I’m too busy not to write.  That’s right.  When you love to do something and you believe it’s worthy of your time, you just do it.  Let’s face it, we all make time for things that are important.

We all have 24 hours in a day, which means we all have to make choices.  For one, I don’t watch T.V.  I don’t have much of a social life.  I don’t have a long commute.  I don’t sew or iron (I’ve never made my kids homemade costumes).  I rarely shop at the mall.  I don’t play golf.  I don’t get my nails done.  And when all else fails, I skip sleep.

What is most important to you?  If you look at your schedule, are you spending time on the things you are passionate about, or is the daily grind consuming you?

Fill in the blank:  “I’m too busy not to _______.”

...read and cook. These are my loves and soul-fillers. Good thoughts for a Monday when I'm feeling frustrated and without direction. Thanks for sharing!

Susan, I wrote a blog post a long time ago about things I DON'T do... that I'd actually like to, if I had a different life. But as you say, we all make choices. Like you, blogging is something I love and it satisfies my need to write regularly. I'm so glad you're blogging!

I'm also an attorney, mother of three (all boys though) and blogger. I don't watch any television, except sports as a family on weekends, and I do not shop unless I really do need something and then I'm in and out in record time. But I often field this same question, how do you have time to...? The laundry is piled high -- that's how. I choose to write over other good things, because I feel called to do it. Plus, I love it, and it energizes me and makes me a better mother, wife, and friend. So a big ditto on your thoughts!

Wow. Dare I say, "great minds think alike?"

Hi susan, I've been writing a blog for about a year and I too, am too busy not to write. In fact I've written for years and years. Mostly in exercise books and journals. The greatest joy in my life this year has come from blogging. The thrill of watching the stats rise is fun but the comments and feedbacks (and emails) made it even better. As a Christian mum who writes I've discovered that others have drawn strength from my writing. My blog focussed on my daughters journey from being diagnosed with Leukaemia through treatment to wellness. Now I return to full time teaching and still I agree I am "Too Busy Not To Write." It has become such a great anchor to my life, to write and to share the journey. I'm thrilled to find your blog. Mine is www.girlonaswing.wordpress.com
