Yeah, I'm Martha-squared. And it pains me that she always gets the bad rap in the story.BigDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13895137032835250175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8444751395260978471.post-66877441540104875902011-06-24T06:24:24.816-04:002011-06-24T06:24:24.816-04:00This is a good one. Mary just seemed like she didn't care about what was going on in the house. It does seem lazy. I can't get past that. I think the message is that these are two extremes, and we can't fall into either. There is a time for everything. We must have order, and get things accomplished. And we must stop and listen at times, and just be.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8444751395260978471.post-57536680127368559702011-06-22T15:14:28.900-04:002011-06-22T15:14:28.900-04:00I'm a little of both, i think... probably more...I'm a little of both, i think... probably more Martha than Mary. I do think it's possible to embrace the spirit of Mary in today's world, but you have to be pretty good at tuning out a lot of noise. My mom just gave me the book Shanda mentioned... on my list to read!
Hope you're well, Susan! xoxo HeidiHeidi @ Decor & Morehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13914552225252918719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8444751395260978471.post-35155298429901238532011-06-21T21:54:24.446-04:002011-06-21T21:54:24.446-04:00Oh big fat sigh. It was at that point that we were asked to identify with one of the characters and of course-I WAS MARTHA. I wanted to be a Mary, darnit! Alas, I still am Martha, even though I still want to be Mary. Oy!

I need to get better at this because I fear that I will always be a Martha. Even after I pass, and am standing with Jesus, I have a feeling that I'll want to clean His robes or be on the "fix-up heaven" minor improvement committee because I just can't sit idle...even though I need to. I need to spend more time with Jesus and just listen.

Great post, Susan!Jenny Sulpiziohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02342084273010867434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8444751395260978471.post-74977936642164335742011-06-21T07:04:53.443-04:002011-06-21T07:04:53.443-04:00Our pastor challenged us to be dilligent in studie...Our pastor challenged us to be dilligent in studied God's word and meditating on Sunday and the first thing that went through my mind was "How do I get that done as well as everything else I have to do?"

Thanks for these thoughts.
